One can acquire large heartedness only if one has inborn impulse or samskara and devotion in every act. Through devotion to the Lord, one gets humility, fear of sin and faith in scriptures. Through these qualities, the littleness of the mind is wiped out and one becomes large-hearted. Therefore, Oh ye seekers, first direct your effort towards acquiring 'Faith in God' and developing 'Fear of Sin'.  These two will promote meekness and remember, meekness is Peace! -Divine Discourse,  Prasanthi Vahini.
